The Disco has been officially un-booped. I am really happy with the results. For the first time in my ownership I now have complete headlight washers and fog lamps.
Yes, after much deliberation I decided not to go with an aftermarket bumper. Two reasons for that, the first being that I like the factory bumper and didn’t see any “upgraded” ones that I like nearly as much. The second is the way Farmers handled the claim, I would have had to pull some tricky stuff to get it to work. (They wrote the body shop a check, not me.)
Total cost at my body shop was about $2000, the bulk of which was the factory bumper at a whopping $800. I did provide the washers (I already had them) and one of the fog lamps, but otherwise the neighbor’s insurance paid for the rest.

It’s criminal ho much they charge for the exterior plastic pieces on these. I have to redo my A-pillars and you better believe I am wrapping them in 3M matte black vinyl to keep that stuff together in another 15 years.

I was a little surprised, but less so than everyone else. I guess I just assumed bumper covers cost that much! But yeah, the guys at the body shop were super surprised.

Mine was cracked on my 03 so when i needed to pull the bumper to fully disassemble the ACE system it disintegrated. I am saving/prepping to take some crypto profit to refurb all of my exterior trim on the Disco.

Ouch! That sucks. My understanding is this is why there are no used ones on the market. They just get super brittle with age.

plastic is not a good material for humid climate exterior trim.
